2011-02-27 Jonathan Falwell 1000 Days: Clash With The Leaders In today's story, if you will turn with me in your Bibles to the Book of Luke, to the 11th chapter, we begin seeing an important truth, an important statement about the hypocrites that Jesus wanted to talk to, the hypocrites and the legalists that were attacking Him. Those same people that we talked about last week, those religious leaders of the day, and how that at every turn they were coming after Jesus and they were going after Him in every situation. To understand what Jesus' concern was of hypocrisy, we've got to understand what a hypocrite truly is. And I just want to define hypocrisy to you. Literally it means this, "to act different than who you really are." It comes from a first century Greek word which is Hupocrites, which literally means "given to the idea of an actor on a stage, someone who would wear a mask and who would walk up with a script and would begin to act out something that was totally different than who they really were." We've all been to plays. We've all watched movies and television programs.
