1000 Days: The Call To Follow
Well, today as we travel from that synagogue in Nazareth, we move up to the Sea of Galilee, to an area where Jesus spent an incredible amount of time in His earthly ministry. It plays a prominent role in His ministry. I want you to turn in your Bibles this morning to Luke chapter 5. And in Luke chapter 5 we begin to understand the story that we are going to talk about today, of the call to follow, when Jesus gave us those important words, to follow after Him. And it happened here in the Sea of Galilee area. Now in order to truly experience and understand all that took place in this region, you've got to understand that the Sea of Galilee is a very small thing. When we think of the word "sea" we think of the Atlantic Ocean, you know, we think of the Pacific Ocean. But when we look at this picture, we see that the Sea of Galilee really was nothing more than a lake. It was about thirteen miles from north to south and about eight miles from east to west, much smaller than even our own Smith Mountain Lake here in this area.
